Wild Rye: Discover Our Wetland Wildlife

Bittern in Winter

The Nature Reserve Partners provide core funding towards our annual budget, but this does not cover the cost of all staff or the larger projects, such as habitat creation, providing new facilities or professional surveys.

Building up these projects and managing them does require considerable time and effort, but it is always worth it for the significant steps forward that have been made. Projects also give an extra opportunity for publicity, which is vital for us to get our core messages out to the public

Funding of these projects always requires some match funding (from 5-50%)and our Partners have always managed to come up with money.

The links on the right will guide you through our major projects.

To qualify for some grants we have to demonstrate that we involve volunteers. Some of the work is be done on our workparties. Why not come along!

Please remember that the first and third tuesday of every month is a workparty day, led by Sam, Chris or Barry. You can help with the practical management of the Nature Reserve, finding places and wildlife that you may not otherwise see.

Meet at Rye Harbour car park at 10am, return about 3pm.

Bring old, warm clothing, work gloves, boots, lunch, a hot drink and a good sense of humour.
